Notes : The first edition has the mention: Published by the authority of the Phlebotomical Society. Cytheria, 1789. But, according to Peter Mendes, it was in fact printed in London, possibly by J.H. Gaball, for William Lazenby / Edward Avery in 1885.
Published in French by A. Brancart in 1890 as Les Souvenirs d'une puce. Also translated as Autobiographie d'une puce and Souvenirs d'un insecte. A partial translation was published ca. 1940 as Bella. L'Insatiable amoureuse.
Mendes adds: "The Galitzine note points to its author being 'un avocat anglais, bien connu à Londres' - which in turn suggest Frederick Popham Pike, the only barrister known to have been involved in the writing of pornography in this period." (notes to 1-A)
